Description
This project continued the process of eradicating elodea from the Alexander Creek Drainage using aquatic herbicides. These efforts saw significant setbacks in 2022 due to high precipitation levels resulting in high water levels. This diluted the systemic aquatic herbicide making it ineffective after 40 days and precluding further treatments that season. Another treatment was applied in early June 2023.
Project Benefit
Eradicating Elodea from Alexander and Sucker lakes will remove this invasive species from approximately 425 ha of lake, restoring salmon habitat and preventing the spread of Elodea to other salmon-rich lakes in Alaska. Accomplishments
