Description

The Grantee, landowner, and contractors constructed 33 weirs (32 boulders and 1 concrete) to take up the grade below an existing diversion and provide fish passage to adult and juvenile salmonids. They also installed a new fish screen at the diversion that meets agency screening criteria. The Yellowjacket Creek Fish Passage Improvement Project restored juvenile and adult coho salmon and steelhead trout access to 1.9 miles of spawning and rearing habitat on Yellowjacket Creek by modifying a concrete diversion dam weir structure, constructing 33 boulder step-pools, and installing a fish screen.

Project Benefit

Modifying the concrete weir will allow access to 1.9 miles of spawning and rearing habitat.
