Description

Chinook salmon smolt were captured using baited minnow traps and beach seines and coded-wire tagged from approximately 15 April to 15 June in 2003 (BY01) and 2004 (BY02).

Project Benefit

1. Data gathered from the coded-wire tagging of Chinook salmon smolt in this project in combination with information from an ongoing project to estimate adult escapement will provide precise estimates of total Chinook salmon production, exploitation, and survival will be obtained from this large sized stock(60,000 to 100,000 adults produced annually) in the southern inside portion of Southeast Alaska.
2. A detailed operational plan for the coded-wire tagging work will be submitted dwell in advance of project implementation.
