Continued data analysis started under project 2001-3, resulting in the following publication:
Kann, J. and E. B. Welch. 2005. Wind control on water quality in shallow hypereutrophic Upper Klamath Lake, Oregon. Lake and Reservoir Management 21:149-158.
Project Benefit
This project prepares water quality data in Upper Klamath Lake for use by lake managers so they can further their understanding of the ecosystem and adjust their management strategies as appropriate. By updating and further analyzing existing data sets, we can better understand how the lake ecosystem functions, and how it responds to various management regimes. Our goal is to continue working towards the ecological restoration of Upper Klamath Lake to a condition that will increase the probability of successful re-introduction of anadromous salmonids to the Upper Klamath Basin, as well as improve conditions for the anadromous fisheries in the Klamath River.
