Service Description: The West Coast Region leverages the Watershed Boundary Dataset as a base dataset for managing marine and anadromous species. Species and program information is mapped to the hydrologic unit codes (HUCs) in the WBD. As of March 2018, this version (July 2012) of HUCs has been used to map the locations of Endangered Species Act listed salmon and steelhead and recovery actions. Listings and recovery actions are stored in separate databases. These are only the base data. The West Coast Region will update this base WBD dataset over time by downloading new versions from the USGS and will subsequently update the information that is mapped to the HUCs in all relevant databases.
