Service Description: This map service was created by downloading shapefiles from NOAA's National Marine Sanctuaries (NMS) website, merging the data, and publishing these five sanctuaries together as one layer. Only the sanctuaries along the west coast are displayed here. Please visit the NMS website for the complete list of all sanctuaries at: https://sanctuaries.noaa.gov/library/imast_gis.html. The Office of National Marine Sanctuaries (ONMS) manages a system of sanctuaries and other areas around the country. The boundaries of each national marine sanctuary are based on the legal definition as defined in the Code of Federal Regulations, at 15 C.F.R. Part 922 and the subparts for each national marine sanctuary. These boundaries are not intended and should not be relied upon for use in navigation or legal purposes.
