Data Set Information

Name
PAHs in subsistence-harvested ice seals 2012
Description
This data set contains concentrations of parent and alkylated polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and lipid content in tissues of spotted (n=2) and ringed seals (n=1) collected during a subsistence harvest during 2012 in areas where oil had been observed nearby. Samples were collected by the North Slope Borough Department of Wildlife Management. Samples were analyzed in order to investigate potential oil exposure, with funding from the Marine Mammal Health and Stranding Response Program of the Office of Protected Resources, National Marine Fisheries Service, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, US Department of Commerce. Analyses were conducted by the Environmental Chemistry Program, Northwest Fisheries Science Center, National Marine Fisheries Service using rigorous, documented performance-based analytical protocols and quality assurance criteria.
