Data Set Information

Name
POPs and lipid in false killer whales from Hawaii 2008
Description
This data set contains concentrations of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) and lipid content in blubber biopsies of false killer whales (n=9) collected in Hawaii in July, 2008 by Cascadia Research Collective. Samples were analyzed in order to investigate how contaminants may contribute to the observed decline of this species in Hawaiian waters, with funding from the Marine Mammal Health and Stranding Response Program of the Office of Protected Resources, National Marine Fisheries Service, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, US Department of Commerce. Analyses were conducted by the Environmental Chemistry Program, Northwest Fisheries Science Center, National Marine Fisheries Service using rigorous, documented performance-based analytical protocols and quality assurance criteria.
