The Campbell project will replace an undersized 4 round steel culvert with a larger 16 6 wide by 11 high pipe arch. The hydraulic analysis based on watershed size indicates the flow capacitites to be much greater than the wetted stream indicates and a second smaller stream will be diverted to this tributary just upstream of the new culvert increasing the need for a larger culvert. The second 24 culvert removed from the road just prior to the main culvert on the main logging road will not be replaced but filled in. The 2 bankfull width upstream that flowed through the smaller culvert will be diverted to the main tributary just upstream of the new culvert by excavating an old channel that parallels the main logging road for a short distance. The unnamed trib to the Lower Wihskah supports coho, and cutthroat trout. The habitat downstream could potentially support chum spawning and and is tidally influenced. The watershed upstream has beaver dams with excellent canopy cover of conifers and dense native shrubs bordering the stream. Large woody debris is prevalent throughout the stream with good recruiting potentail. There is about 1 mile of good habitat upstream and no barriers up or downstream.
