This barrier is on Liljedahl Creek, a tributary to Bear Creek which flows into Salt Creek. This 2-foot diameter culvert is 33% passable due to a 1-foot outfall drop. The species that will benefit from this project are coho, cutthroat, searun cutthroat, and steelhead.
An aluminized culvert, 11 feet in diameter, is the proposed correction for this site.

In recent years multiple agencies have focused efforts on improving habitat conditions in the Salt Creek Watershed. Instream work has been done by Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife both upstream and downstream of the proposed project location to enhance fish habitat. The Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe performed an assessment of habitat condition and opportunities for restoration in Salt Creek watershed and identified this site amoung others as a barrier to fish passage. The Tribe is currently working to leverage funds to correct more fish passage barriers in this watershed. The Clallam Conservation District is working with landowners in the Salt Creek watershed, including this landowner, on conservation planning practices to restore and enhance habitat and improve water quality.
