Description

These projects are located on tributaries to the Tilton River, a tributary to the Cowlitz River.
The existing barrier culverts are beneath forest road crossings at sites labeled C, D, E, J, and the puncheon is at site F. The culverts were determined to be barriers during a barrier evaluation site visit conducted by the Lewis County Conservation District and the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife.
Approximately 1.29 miles of fish habitat is available for fish to use above these blockages. A survey revealed that the canopy cover and instream cover are good throughout the streams. Rearing and spawning habitat is available above the blockages. Coho, steelhead, and cutthroat are the species of concern in the systems.
The four existing culverts will be removed and replaced with; site C, 14 foot wide by 35 foot long bridge, site D, 14 foot wide by 45 foot long bridge, site E, 120 inch by 30 foot long corrugated steel pipe, aluminized, site J, 120 inch by 35 foot corrugated steel pipe, aluminized, site F, puncheon will be removed, which will allow fish of all ages to migrate up and downstream.
This project is being partnered by the Lewis County Conservation District, the landowner, Washington State Department of Natural Resources, Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife, and the Recreation and Conservation Office/Salmon Recovery Funding Board.
