The project will restore a stream corridor in OGrady Park. OGrady Park is located on the lower reaches of two tributaries to the Middle Green River, approximately 4 mi east of Auburn. Stream channels in all work zones will be enhanced with large woody debris, boulders, & native vegetation. Stream corridor restoration will involve separating the creek from the wall-based tributary by constructing a defined stream channel with a benched, active-channel migration zone. The goal is to resolve high sediment load problems that have resulted in filling & braiding of the stream channel, avulsions, & fish strandings. The stream will be designed to accommodate sediment loads & channel movement, & will be heavily planted with native shrubs. About 7 acres of adjacent pasture will also be planted with native riparian species. Design of this project is nearly complete; construction is scheduled for fall/winter 99. Most work will be in the dry season prior to connecting channel.
