This is a cooperative fish passage project with Jefferson County, the Point no Point Treaty Tribes, the Hood Canal Salmon Enhancement Group, the US Fish & Wildlife Service and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation. We propose to replace two undersized culverts on Tarboo Creek with 12 and 15 flat bottom oval steel or aluminum plate culverts. Both of these culverts have been determined to be total blockages to salmonids as determined by the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife. In addition to the culverts we will be placing four log controls on the downstream end of the upper culvert. Design will be completed winter 2001 and construction will take place during the summer of 2002. This project will open 5.2 miles of stream and over 114,602 square meters of habitat to Chum, Coho, Cutthroat Trout and Steelhead. This project has come before this board twice before by other entities. The HCSEG has undertaken this project this year and incorporated new partners in order to assist in permitting design and cost.
