The project location is in Western Washington approximately 20 miles from the coast immediately north of Humtulips, Washington. Stevens Creek is a tributary to the Humptulips River. WRIA: 22.0064; Sec 4 T20N R10W; Sec. 1, 12, 13, 24, 25, 26, 34, 35 T21N R10W; G. H. County. The focus of this restoration project is to improve in stream and riparian function by placing new large woody debris and plant native conifor in Stevens Creek. The project will address limiting factors of temperature, cover, food sources, streambed stability, pool frequency, sedimentation, gravel scour, the lack of large woody debris and large woody debris recruitment, as defined in the W.E. Forks Humtulips. Watershed Analysis, WA Conservation Commissions Humptulips Basin Limiting Factors Report, and USFWS study. Chehalis River Basin Fishery Resources: Status Trends, & Restoration Goals. Targeted stocks are Chum, Coho, Chinook, Steelehad, and Cutthroat Trout. Planning has been on going with Rayonier Timberlands., Columbia-Pacific RC&D, WDFW and USF&W during different courses of previous grant applications and a finished Habitat Survey by the RC&D using a Watershed Stream Analysis Survey Program by Martin Fox and Timber-Fish-Wildlife Ambient Monitoring Programs. Timing for project implementation (LWD) is best when the hydraulic window opens, usually mid June until late September, riparian planting will take place in the late fall and winter months.
