Description

The Fort Shaw Irrigation District and Cascade County Conservation District in cooperation with state and federal agencies will work together to improve the water quality and quantity on the Adobe Creek/Sun River area. This will be accomplished by installing a syphon to bypass a major canal seep area, irrigation water management program, land use improvements through best management practices and a water quality and quantity monitoring program on Adobe Creek and the Sun River to ensure improvements actually occur. This is the next component of the Fort Shaw Irrigation District¿s Water Conservation Plan goals to improve water quality and quantity within the Adobe Creek Basin. The primary goals of this project are to: (1) Reduce major canal seeps causing salinity and flow fluctuation son Adobe Creek and Sun River; (2) Improve land management through improved riparian/upland habitat and Best Management Practices to improve water quality; and, (3) Monitoring strategy to document project improvements.
