The project will implement grazing BMPs as a ranch based demonstration project using the MSU/UM Bandy Experimental Ranch. The project includes an inventory of water quality and riparian zone conditions on Shanley Creek and Cottonwood Creek to ascertain the areas which need imprvement and protection. An agricultural economist will create an efficiency ranking for the BMPs. Demonstration field days will be conducted to train participants on the recommended monitoring protocol, improvements and cost-effectiveness of the BMPs. Develop grazing management alternatives to correct livestock impacts. This includes: fencing, off-site livestock water, WQL monitoring, and developing a ranch operations journal and annual status report . Several demonstration days and an Extension Bulleting will be created to disseminate demonstration results.
