Montana State University Plant, Soil, and Environmental Sciences Department is conducting this project. A demonstration site on an experimental ranch in the Godfrey Creek area will be used to measure filter strip effectiveness and to promote the use of riparian vegetation filter strips as a Best Management Practice (BMP) to other producers in the region. Project includes site tours and a promotional video on this practice. A technical bulletin and training will be provided for NRCS, Extension Service and other agency employees. The Gallatin CD is helping to arrange at least four field tours of the site by area producers. To demonstrate the use vegetative filter strips to control nutrients and livestock wastes.
