Description

Sun River watershed is 2,200 square miles draining the east slope of the front range and carrying water east to the Missouri River at Great Falls. The Cascade and Lewis and Clark Conservation Districts in cooperation with state and federal agencies are working together on this project as an interdisciplinary team. The restoration plans will include improved irrigation management, improved agricultural practices aand BMPs, and stream bank erosion control structures. This is a continuation of the Sun River / FT Shaw Project funded in FFY1995. 1. Continue the efforts to reduce irrigation return flows and erosion on other segments of Muddy Creek Watershed 2. Complete a comprehensive resource inventory on the entire Sun River Watershed. 3. Enhance water quality and quantity in the Sun River through education, workshops, and hands-on training to benefit all uses of water such as agriculture, drinking water, fisheries, and recreation.
