Description    


Replacing iron tide gate lids with lighter aluminum design and installing a high volume water intake gate at the main channel has improved tidal circulation in Brownsmead. Several tidegates have been replaced with aluminum lid design that is open for longer duration allowing for increased tidal circulation and connectivity to habitat for rearing, foraging, and spawning. 5 fish barriers are located throughout the Blind Slough area in the form of railroad and road crossings. CREST and the community of Brownsmead will be partnering with Army Corps of Engineers to install fish passage improvements slated for next year in seven locations throughout Blind Slough in the form of channel enhancement, culvert improvements, and dike breaching. Restoration of Blind Slough enhances water quality and reconnects seven (7) miles of habitat for aquatic species including migrating salmonids.
