Description
This project collected the fourth of a required five years of hydological data necessary to finalize instream flow reservations on four anadromous reaches in the Matanuska-Susitna Basin (two reaches of Meadow Creek and two reaches of Fish Creek).
Project Benefit
This project provides a substantial and direct benefit towards salmon habitat protection by preparing for the filing of reservations of water, or instream flow water rights, in Fish and Meadow Creeks, which are major sockeye and coho salmon producing streams. These salmon support commercial, recreational, and personal-use fisheries. Another benefit of this project is capacity building by engaging and training a local Soil and Water Conservation District to expand efforts on and educate the public about instream flow protection in the Mat-Su Basin.
