Description

The Campbell Creek estuary property was purchased on Nov 30, 2010, and transferred to the Municipality of Anchorage. Conservation Easements were retained by Great Land Trust and the Alaska Department of Natural Resources limiting the development of the property to trails and a small parking area, signage and coastal overlooks.

Project Benefit

The Campbell Creek watershed is the most intact, ecologically-functional watershed in Anchorage in relation to salmon habitat. It is critical to conserve the high degree of functionality of this estuary to support current population levels of anadromous fish that inhabit the estuary and the watershed. Conserving the estuary will enhance the integrity of the state-owned Anchorage Coastal Wildlife Refuge and the greater Campbell Creek watershed.
