Description
Harvest data (actual catch) was collected during the 2006 Shoshone-Bannock Tribes Chinook Salmon Fishery in the Salmon River Sub-basin. In addition, we completed a fisherman survey via mail and received less than 0.5% return and this information was not used. Actual harvest data provided an estimated total catch by tribal members.
In season catch estimates were summarized weekly and provided to NOAA-Fisheries staff for the South Fork Salmon fishery. A post-season catch was estimated for South Fork and other areas and provided to the NOAA-Fisheries staff.
Project Benefit
Promote recovery and restoration of ESA-listed salmonids through adaptive harvest monitoring management consistent with the conservation based Tribal Resources Management Plan.

Description of monitoring | |
The Shoshone Bannock Tribes will monitor and report treaty harvest levels at the population level for 22 natural origin and 4 hatchery origin populations of Snake River spring/summer Chinook salmon. Anadromous fishery staff will conduct population monitoring to assess annual adult escapement to 22 fishery management areas and determine level of impacts to salmon populations listed under the Endangered Species Act. |
