Description    


Project was completed in June 0f 2011. Approximately .75 miles of road was closed and reseeded with the upper portion of the watershed closed from vehicles impacting the headwaters.

Project Benefit    


Restoration of the upper watershed of Satus Creek increases stream flow and improves water quality downstream. Meadows that have good stream-floodplain connection hold more water for late summer downstream flow than meadows that have heavily incised channels.
Direct benefits from this project will include more and cooler water instream during the late summer months, improving conditions for juvenile rearing and riparian growth. This work may also serve to dampen high flow events as an increased portion of the runoff is caught by the meadow, instead of quickly passing down an incised channel.
Additional benefits would be gained by improving the condition of native vegetation within the meadow, as well as protecting sensitive wetlands. This would further increase the meadows ability to retain moisture and increase hydrological persistence within the upper watershed.
