Description
The Tribe arranged for a Graduate Student majoring in Geo-Fluvial Hydrology at Humboldt State University to come to Covelo and utilize the Tribes Mill Creek Stream Restoration Project as her Masters Thesis Project. She conducted a variety of hydrological assessments and studies as well as researched historical records to determine Mill Creeks past, present and response to implemented Stream Restoration activities.
Project Benefit
To help us understand (from a scientific perspective) some of the hows, whats and whys of the success of the Mill Creek Stream Restoration Project. This was a very large project in conditions that ... according to standard accepted restoration ideology ... would have a very hard time to be successful. Yet, the approach taken has been very successful, and we wanted some reasons why so that perhaps other entities with similar habitat conditions would be able to achieve similar success.
