Description

This was the fourth Phase of the large scale Mill Creek Stream & Riparian Restoration Project. Approximately 3,500 feet of primary and secondary channel were developed and modified to promote a single channel system and establish a functional riparian corridor system as proposed. Several thousand Willows, cottonwoods, alders and oaks were planted along the banks of Mill Creek as part of the Riparian corridor development component.

Project Benefit

This Project phase plays an integral component in the completion of channel development and connectivity in the overall Mill Creek Stream Restoration Project. Surface water flows are lasting longer into the summer months and returning earlier in the fall months as the project continues to mature and stabilize. Riparian vegetation is slow to grow in these hash summer conditions, but the vegetation planted in the earlier Phases is starting to take root and become self sufficient. The Project area is actually starting to look like a healthy functional creek again and gets better every year!
