Description

This project is an ongoing planning and coordination project (see CCT02-6 and CCT03-4). This project will allow the Colville Tribes to develop and maintain capacity to participate in regional salmon recovery, coordination and watershed planning activities. Participation in these processes is essential to the success of the Colville Tribes Chinook salmon and steelhead conservation and restoration activities; and to the effective implementation of recovery efforts at the local and Columbia River Basin scale.

Activities completed under the scope of this project will: 1) increase the Colville Tribes capacity to actively participate in technical forums, regional coordination efforts, development of regional and basinwide research, monitoring and evaluation programs, regional and local watershed planning and assessment efforts, transboundary coordination related to ESA and Canadian Species at Risk Act, and participation in local government and citizen forums related to Chinook and steelhead conservation and recovery; and 2) fulfill the PCSRF project administration and coordination needs directly associated with PCSRF funding.

Project Benefit

Contribute to an increase in tribal capacity to develop and implement watershed and/or subbasin plans. Improve survival and recovery of listed and non-listed salmon and steelhead through development of comprehensive plans or reports that: 1) identify and priortize threats to native salmon restoration and recovery, and 2) address measures and actions on a priority basis needed to eliminate those threats.
