Description
This project will improve spawning and rearing conditions for Upper Columbia ESU summer steelhead and Chinook salmon in an Okanogan River Tributary - Loup Loup Creek. For a number of years the Colville Tribes have focused habitat restoration and protection actions on Omak Creek, an important tributary of the Okanogan River. As a result of these concerted efforts (including habitat acquisition, riparian and instream restoration actions, passage barrier removal, and development of locally adapted steelhead broodstock) significant improvements in canopy cover and steelhead productivity are being seen.
Project Benefit
Improve spawning and rearing conditions for Upper Columbia ESU summer steelhead and Chinook salmon in Loup Loup Creek - a tributary of the Okanogan River. Contribute to increased and sustainable naturally spawning populations of Upper Columbia salmon and steelhead.
