Description    


This project the following enhancement-related activities:
47,964,000 juvenile pink salmon, 14,065,000 juvenile sockeye salmon and 406,000 juvenile coho salmon were released Cook Inlet drainages following standard ADF&G hatchery procedures.
Sixteen 12-foot aluminum raceways were installed and are operational at Trail Lakes Hatchery.
CIAA and Port Graham staff met and a cooperative agreement was reached in which CIAA initiated the rearing of juvenile sockeye salmon to Port Graham and the English Bay Lakes.
Adult sockeye salmon escapement monitoring was conducted at Hidden Lake in 2004 and 2005 and at Chenik Lake in 2005.
The 2004, 2005 and 2006 Big Lake smolt migrations were monitored following standard ADF&G procedures.
Phase II of the Cook Inlet Salmon Enhancement Plan has been completed and is posted on CIAA’s website www.ciaanet.org.

Project Benefit    


Cook Inlet Aquaculture Association (CIAA) enhancement projects provide for 63% of the common property salmon returning to project areas and 10% of all salmon available for common property harvest throughout the Cook Inlet area. Commercial, subsistence, and recreational fishers all rely on the efforts of CIAA.
