Description
The project goal is to improve the quality, complexity, and frequency of pools, provide flow refugia for salmonids, and sort spawning gravels in Bridge Creek by installing properly sized large wood (LWD) features throughout a 0.86 mile reach. The project will result in 46 LWD features, comprised of 151 (119 key) pieces of properly sized LWD, increasing the frequency of appropriately sized LWD in Bridge Creek.
Project Benefit
The project will bring the key piece count within the reach from a Poor rating to a Very Good rating for frequency of wood within the stream, as outlined in the NOAA Fisheries Final Recovery Plan for Central California Coast Coho Salmon ESU, Appendix B (NMFS 2012). This will reduce future need to return to the reach for retreatment to meet target habitat criteria.
