Cachagua Creek Fish Passage Alternative Plan/Design Project - Quevedo

The project will provide a plan/design to remediate an existing migration barrier. The focus is a concrete ford which provides access to a private residence (Quevedo). The ford is a partial migration barrier for all life stages of SCCC steelhead. The removal and replacement with a free span bridge will improve migration conditions in an important reach of Cachagua Creek, a tributary to the Carmel River.

The resulting ford removal and replacement with a free span bridge will improve migration conditions for juvenile and adult steelhead trout at all modeled fish passage flows. Modification or removal of this barrier will reduce energy expenditure and delays for migrating adult steelhead, improve post-spawning survival of adults, facilitate access to areas of high-quality spawning habitat and perennially watered rearing areas in the upper watershed and provide full migration opportunities for juvenile volitional upstream and downstream migration.
