Gilliam County Consultation Assistance

This project will produce 30% designs for restoration located within the Hay Creek Watershed in Gilliam County, which is a tributary to the lower John Day River. Hay Creek represents an important spawning tributary for the summer run Mid-Columbia River steelhead that utilizes the watershed and is the focus of collaborative restoration efforts intended to support fisheries restoration, improve stream habitat, restore natural stream processes, enhance streamflow, and enhance surface water during baseflow conditions. The Gilliam SWCD will engage in the procurement of contractors to meet all mandatory components to ensure compliance in preparation for the design for implementation of approximately 9 miles of Low-Tech Process Base Restoration in the Hay Creek watershed.

This technical assistance grant will provide resources for the SWCD and partners to hire contractors to perform all duties required for Section 106 and complete permitting applications for submission and approval. This will help the SWCD and partners put more native fish habitat on the ground and utilize two sets of designs created to address limiting factors in the Hay Creek Watershed.
