Description

The Widows Creek Ranch is located halfway between Mt. Vernon, and Dayville on the Upper Mainstem John Day River, in Grant County, Oregon. The restoration efforts addressed in this project included fencing riparian areas, clearing Juniper, and developing upland water installations for strategically grazing livestock. These actions draw livestock away from sensitive riparian habitats along Widows Creek, Bridge Creek (Steelhead Critical Habitat), Grousse Creek, and Dry Creek (Redband bearing streams). Riparian fencing and associated metrics were inadvertently omitted at project proposal due to misunderstanding of where fencing would occur.

Project Benefit

Through enrolling their critical habitat and fishbearing streams in the CREP program the Widows Creek ranch is protecting and enhancing their riparian habitat, for Steelhead and Salmon.
