Description
Elodea (Elodea spp., common waterweed) is a highly invasive aquatic plant in Alaska that can significantly degrade habitat for salmon and other aquatic species and impede navigability of waterways. This project will continue the work of eradicating Elodea from the Alexander Creek drainage.
Project Benefit
Eradicating Elodea from Alexander Lake and the Sucker Lake complex will remove this invasive species from approximately 425 hectares of lake, restoring salmon habitat and eliminating a large vector risk of spreading Elodea to other regions of Alaska through float plane traffic. Accomplishments
