Description

This project will enumerate Pasagshak River sockeye salmon and collect age, sex, length (ASL) data. The Pasagshak River, located on the Kodiak road system, currently supports one of the largest sockeye salmon subsistence fisheries for Kodiak Island residents. The data gathered through this project will enable inseason management adjustments and more precise evaluation of the escapement goal to maintain the sustainability of this important subsistence run.

Project Benefit

Timely and accurate inseason escapement estimates of Pasagshak River sockeye salmon will allow for inseason management adjustments to maintain the sustainability of the run and provide sustainable subsistence harvest for residents.
