Description

Fee title purchase of a 31 acre property adjacent to the mainstem Necanicum River. The property contains forested wetlands, riparian and floodplain forest, Sitka spruce forest, and the confluence of Klootchie Creek and the Necanicum River. The property is bordered by approximately 0.5 miles of the Necanicum River. North Coast Land Conservancy will do outreach with Clatsop County Parks, which owns adjacent property.

Project Benefit

This acquisition includes 2 miles of main stem Necanicum river. This portion of the river is a major spawning ground for Chum and Chinook as well as migratory area for Steelhead and Coho. The proposed acquisition will increase the land base of protected natural resources in the Necanicum watershed and will allow the ecological priority species and systems to persist in perpetuity.
