Description

The Colville Tribes are proposing this monitoring project to collect sediment data needed to improve the Methow EDT model( https://ecosystems.azurewebsites.net/hstr-methow/ ). Within the Upper Columbia the highest priority data gap for 2019 is to address data collection needs identified within the Methow EDT data gaps assessment ( https://www.okanoganmonitoring.org/Reports/ViewReportsForType/8 ). The data gaps assessment identified the need for improved sediment data in 72 high priority reaches within the Methow River Basin. Data collection will follow standardized Okanogan Basin Monitoring and Evaluation (OBMEP) protocols. Sample processing, data processing and archive will be cost shared by OBMEP. Data will be integrated into the next EDT model run.

Project Benefit

This model measured changes on the landscape that impact salmon survival. The collected data will be integrated into the next EDT model run, which will help focus where future restoration activities could occur.
