Description
The City of Sumner acquired 2 parcels necessary for a future setback levee on the right bank of the White River between river miles 3.9 and 4.9. The 2 parcels were acquired at appraised value. only real property costs were included in the grant. The project initially had a cost amendment. The amendment added funding awarded from a second grant round in lieu of creating a new project.
Project Benefit
The City of Sumner used this grant to buy land to accommodate a future setback levee along the right bank of the White River. The river is used by Chinook salmon and steelhead trout, both of which are species listed as threatened with extinction under the federal Endangered Species Act. Accomplishments
