Description
The Nisqually Land Trust acquired for permanent protection 0.35 mile of Ohop Creek and 51.7 acres of floodplain pasture, wetlands and forested bluff near Eatonville. Ohop Creek provides critical habitat for salmonids, including Chinook salmon and steelhead trout. This property has been transferred to the Nisqually Indian Tribe and is being managed to maintain and improve water quality and salmonid rearing and spawning habitat. This property is within the overall Lower Ohop Creek Restoration project area, upstream of completed phases of the restoration work, and will be included in a future phase of that restoration project.
Project Benefit
Maintain and enhance water quality in Ohop Creek and permanently protect spawing and rearing habitat for salmonids, including coho, Chinook, and steelhead.
