Description

Capital Land Trust conserved in fee 39.75 acres on the North Fork of Goldsborough Creek, near Shelton, WA. The project site consists of two properties that together encompass both banks of 1,800 feet of North Fork Goldsborough Creek and both banks of 1,300 feet of tributaries to North Fork Goldsborough Creek. The properties contain 26 acres of forested and scrub-shrub wetlands that are an active part of the Goldsborough Creek floodplain. The remainding acreage is comprised of a native mixed hardwood/conifer second-growth forest within the creeks floodplain and riparian corridor. Portions of the project site are contiguous to property already conserved by Capitol Land Trust with SRFB funding (project #11-1554). The properties provide abundant, good quality summer rearing and winter refuge habitat for juvenile Coho Salmon, steelhead and Cutthroat Trout.

Project Benefit

To preserve quality summer rearing habitat for juvenile coho salmon, steelhead and cutthroat, and winter refuge habitat for juvenile coho, steelhead and cutthroat in the associated wetland floodplain.
