Description

There were two sites on Freund Canyon Creek, site B is upstream of site A. The culvert at site A had nick point about 5m downstream of the outlet. Nick point had a 1.2m drop below which the channel was scoured and unstable. Landowner says nick point was migrating upstream about 50 ft per year. At site B, high flows overtoped culvert. The stream has excellent spawning gravels and is well forested.
WRIA: 45
River System: Wenatchee
US Barriers: Bad barrier culvert about 0.10 miles upstream on south fork.
DS Barriers: 3 partial barriers.

This project replaced 2 barrier culverts with fish passable structures, one culvert and one bridge.

Project Benefit

The goal of the project was to connect isolated habitat to increase the range and distribution of salmon.

The objective of the project was to increase access to areas blocked by human-caused impediments.
