Description

Throughout the 2022 field season, partners carried out extensive monitoring of populations of sub-yearling Chinook salmon and steelhead trout in the Entiat River, with focus on a comprehensive look at whether recent restoration in the Middle Valley Segment of the river has had benefits that have been previously identified for restored sites in the Upper and Lower Valley Segments. Methods included extensive snorkel surveys and mark-recapture assays to assess habitat selection relative to habitat enhancements from engineered log jams (ELJs). From the data collected during the 2022 field season, throughout the remainder of 2022 and first half of 2023, partners performed detailed analysis, produced a final report, and presented findings to the public.

Project Benefit

Assess the effects of restoration elements by monitoring the response of salmonids throughout Entiat River. Also, supporting a larger pilot project of remote sensing with ground truthing remote surveys
