Description

This site is on Frazer Creek, a tributary to Beaver Creek. The culvert a .91 cmp was a complete barrier having both a hyraulic drop that exceeds WDFW criteria for passability and velocity issues. This crossing was replaced with a 70 foot long squashed culvert set on a new gradient with 2 feet of fill in the bottom of the culvert. Potential species include chinook, coho, steelhead, resident and bull trout. A WDFW stream survey measured 5.86 miles of habitat gain, 0.33 miles to next upstream complete barrier.

WRIA: 48.0309
River System: Methow, Mid Columbia
US Barriers: 8 barriers (4 complete on mainstem, 4 complete on 1st RB trib on Methow Wildlife Area.
DS Barriers: 23 barriers to Methow R. (3 complete barriers)

Project Benefit

Project removed full barrier to aquatic species passage and replaced with an oversized squash culvert to allow for passage during all flows and life stages.
