Marking and CWT Tagging of Hoko Falls Hatchery Coho Program

The Hoko Falls Hatchery Coho program began in 2018 with the intention of supplementing the current Hoko River coho population. The primary goal of this project is to mark and tag 100% of the Hoko Falls Hatchery coho for BY2023.

Because the Hoko Hatcherys coho program is fairly new, its contribution to the overall population in the Hoko River is unknown. This project will provide important stock assessment information on the Hoko Falls Hatchery coho program. Since this program is new in its implementation, its important to be able to assess the timing, straying, and contribution of this program to mixed stock fisheries as well as the current natural population. Marking and tagging these fish will allow them to be differentiated from other stocks in the area and provide important data to fisheries management on the success of the program.
