Habitat Conservation Easement in the Grovers Creek Watershed

The tribe will work with Great Peninsula Conservancy (GPC) to permanently protect conservation values on a conservation property that was purchased in 2018 by GPC and is located 1000 ft upstream of the Tucker property along lower Grover’s Creek floodplain. This will allocate $40,000 to GPC for purchase of a Deed of Right that will place restrictions that will ensure the property will be held in conservation status to benefit salmon and steelhead habitat. The tribe will ensure that GPC will follow federal real property requirements.

This project permanently protects 9.2 acres of previously acquired floodplain and riparian property containing stream and floodplain habitat supporting juvenile rearing for PS Steelhead (EK DIP), PS Chinook (multiple independent populations) PS Chum, and PS Coho. Suquamish tribal members would have access to the property for the gathering of traditional plants.
