Lagunitas Creek Coho Habitat Enhancement Plan - 100% Designs for Phase 2 Sites (7, 8, 9, 10, 11)

Marin Water is seeking funding to complete final (100%) design plans, environmental compliance, and permitting of five habitat restoration sites in Lagunitas Creek. These sites have been identified as high priority through Marin Waters Lagunitas Creek Enhancement Plan (CDFW contract Q1996056) and have 30% design plans completed. All five sites are located in high-usage Coho Salmon spawning and rearing reaches of Lagunitas Creek within Samuel P. Taylor State Park downstream of Peters Dam.

Adding large wood and gravel to Lagunitas Creek will create complex self-maintaining riffle-pool habitat with cover and topographic complexity. Additionally, the structures are being designed to capture and sort spawning gravel. This project will create favorable spawning and rearing habitat in close proximity, thus improving early life stage survival for Coho Salmon and other salmonids.
