Description
Elodea (Elodea canadensis, common waterweed) is an invasive aquatic plant in Alaska that can significantly degrade habitat for salmon and other aquatic species and impede navigability of waterways. This project will continue the process of completely eradicating Elodea from the Alexander Creek drainage using herbicides.
Project Benefit
Eradicating Elodea from the Alexander Creek Drainage will remove this invasive species from approximately 425 hectares of lake, restoring salmon habitat and preventing the infestation of Elodea to other lakes in the Mat-Su through float plane traffic.
