FY 2021 Squaxin Island Tribe South Sound Spawner Surveys

As part of continuous monitoring, the Tribe proposes to conduct spawning escapement surveys on Spring, Malaney, Uncle Johns, Campell, Mill, Deer, Johns, Skookum, Elson, Bishop, Little Rock, Gosnell, Goldsborough, North Goldsborough, and Coffee Creeks from September to December. Surveys occur bi-monthly on coho reaches to gather data on coded wire tags, fin clips, scale samples, length, run timing, and run size. The project will specifically conduct live adult counts and carcass surveys.

The proposed project continues to contribute to our knowledge of wild coho production and marine survival. The project will specifically inform on health, timing, and most importantly on marine survival of coho within South Sound. Information provided will be used to guide restoration efforts within Deep South Sound Inlets.
