Description
This project installed critical infrastructure for improving water quality and quantity to the Shasta River. The improvements provide operational flexibility in flow releases for water quality, and accuracy in water measurement. Instream enhancements for summer and winter rearing included development of a 6.5 cfs cold-water source, development of salmonid habitat features- back watered alcove, riffles, wood structures, spawning, riparian planting. Project monitoring from newly installed devises will record flow volumes and water temperatures to verify project commitments in annual report to State Water Resource Control Board.
Project Benefit
This project allows for the creation of a cold water habitat, incorporation of a significant source of cold water to expand limited over summering habitat and increased Cross Canal capacity to allow increased releases to the Shasta River.
