Description

Thirty-one large wood, instream features were installed on a 5,650 foot reach of Redwood Creek, approximately 1.7 miles upstream of its confluence with Hollow Tree. Twenty-five instream large wood features were installed on a 7,401 foot reach of South Fork Redwood Creek, starting at its confluence with Redwood Creek. The features consist of 198 large wood logs anchored to live streambank trees, each other and/or boulders. Planting of 463 conifer as well as native riparian plants occurred in the winters following implementation of the project.

Project Benefit

The addition of these structures will enhance spawning and rearing habitats by providing cover, increasing pool depth, frequency and complexity, sorting and collecting spawning gravels, and by providing velocity refuge during peak winter flows for juvenile salmonids and migrating adult salmonids.
