Description

The project increased the pace and scale of watershed restoration in the Santa Clara Watershed by leading large restoration projects (Harvey Diversion, Rose Valley Lakes), provided local entities involvement opportunities, worked to increase participation and engagement in the community and educate people on the need for species recovery. This project was only partially funded (~50%), based upon the availability of contingency funding. The awarded amount was for a total of $128,923.00 based upon the funding available for priority 3 in the 2018 solicitation.

Project Benefit

Santa Clara River Steelhead Coalition Objectives include:

- To conserve, restore, and protect the endangered Southern California steelhead and its habitat in the Santa Clara River watershed; including adult and juvenile migration, spawning, incubation and rearing habitats.

Description and scope of the plan implemented
This project looked to increase the pace and scale of watershed restoration in a high-priority Core 1 watershed. This was accomplished by leading several large restoration projects that address specific recovery actions ex. (Harvey Diversion - remove barriers, Arundo Removal - invasive species), provide local entities involved pursuing this work opportunity to participate and engage local populations on the need for species recovery
